Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards in a dealer’s shoe. Cards valued less than 10 are valued at their printed value while 10, J, Q, K are zero, and Ace is 1. Wagers are placed on the ‘banker’, the ‘player’, or for a tie (these aren’t actual people; they simply represent the two hands that are dealt).

Two hands of two cards are then dealt to the ‘bank’ and ‘gambler’. The value for every hand is the sum of the cards, although the first number is discarded. e.g., a hand of five and 6 has a value of one (five plus six equals 11; ignore the 1st ‘1′).

A 3rd card could be given based on the following rules:

- If the player or bank achieves a value of 8 or 9, both players hold.

- If the gambler has five or less, he takes a card. Players otherwise stay.

- If the player stays, the banker takes a card on a value lower than 5. If the player takes a card, a chart is used to determine if the house holds or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The higher of the 2 hands wins. Winning wagers on the banker pay out 19:20 (equal money minus a 5% rake. Commission are kept track of and cleared out once you quit the game so make sure you have cash around just before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay one to one. Winning bets for tie usually pays out at 8:1 but on occasion nine to one. (This is a bad bet as ties occur lower than 1 in every 10 rounds. Avoid wagering on a tie. However odds are substantially better for 9 to 1 versus eight to one)

Wagered on properly punto banco offers fairly good odds, aside from the tie wager of course.

Punto Banco Method

As with all games baccarat chemin de fer has quite a few general myths. One of which is close to a myth in roulette. The past isn’t a fore-teller of future actions. Recording previous outcomes on a page of paper is a poor use of paper and a snub to the tree that was cut down for our stationary needs.

The most common and probably the most favorable strategy is the one-three-two-six technique. This plan is deployed to maximize profits and limit losses.

Begin by wagering 1 unit. If you succeed, add 1 more to the two on the game table for a total of three units on the second bet. Should you win you will hold 6 on the game table, pull off four so you keep two on the 3rd bet. If you come away with a win on the third round, deposit 2 on the 4 on the game table for a total of 6 on the 4th bet.

Should you don’t win on the initial bet, you take a hit of one. A win on the initial wager followed by a loss on the second causes a hit of 2. Success on the first 2 with a hit on the third provides you with a profit of 2. And success on the first 3 with a defeat on the 4th means you are even. Winning all four wagers leaves you with twelve, a gain of 10. This means you can not win on the 2nd bet 5 instances for every favorable run of four bets and still are even.
